As their names aptly suggest, summer braai parties, though not a new phenomenon, are increasingly becoming popular diary events at a number of Zimbabwean joints, where friends, family and colleagues meet to discuss pertinent issues while partaking in festivities that include barbecued meat and drinks.
Last weekend, Megga One — known as Pamahuswa — hosted a spit braai, that was well attended by patrons from Harare and surrounding areas.
Dubbed “Pig on the Spit,” revellers who visited the joint on Saturday were treated to complementary lunch of roast pork and sadza, or rice, having bought a beer of their choice.
Patrons could still enjoy pork ribs and other braai packs at their disposal for the whole day until late into the night, while enjoying music from DJ Jones Power.
“These sessions will be held every weekend right to the onset of the rains.
“With summer with us, a lot of people prefer to hang out at open-air joints, hence our decision to introduce a barbecue fete every weekend,” said joint owner Ben Mukandi.
“This development also suits many women as it relieves them of the drudgery of cooking at home and they would rather come here and enjoy their lunch and dinner,” he said.
