Founded in May this year, the group has a passion to minister the gospel through hip-pop and rap.The eight-member crew hails from Christ Embassy CBD Youth Ministry and has already set in motion their mission to preach the gospel.
MOG is an acronym for Men of God, though the group comprises six guys and two girls.
The group has released their first album titled “Redemption” which bellows tracks such as “Reachout” and “Jesus is da Boss”.
Group member and producer Naison Gwati highlighted the vision and the style of music adopted by the MOG:
“Our dream is to go global and become successful in the music industry whilst winning souls for the Kingdom of God. Our music is mainly hip-pop and rap, but we also want to branch into afro-pop and dancehall and build a wider audience base.”
Announcing their arrival into the music world MOG Crew, has performed at Christ Embassy and Zaoga Church.
The group is pencilled in to perform at a youth event at Strathaven Shopping Centre this afternoon. Tomorrow they grace the Pastor Chris Offer 7 celebrations.
The group also highlighted that they want to go beyond the confines of the church and take their message to the secular world.
“As MOG we would love to perform at Hifa, Break Down (7 Arts Avondale); Zim Hip-Hop Awards and regionally the Higher Life Conference with Pastor Chris in South Africa,” Naison shared.
Looking up to God as their source for all, MOG draws inspiration from some of the acclaimed local artistes in the gospel industry such as Mudiwa Hood, Flem B and ZimPraise.
“Firstly, we look up to God then Pastor Chris as our mentor. Locally, Mudiwa and Flem B inspire us. They have proven that everything is possible if you put God first. Internationally Sinach and Lecrae are top of the list.”
In true Christian style, MOG underlined their mission for their music in the group’s motto,
“Our group motto is taking the rap music from the streets into the church and getting the youth excited about gospel music.
“We seek to make difference in the music industry and help usher the youth into the house of God.”
So what can teens look forward to from MOG Crew as they carry on with their crusade to rock the house of the Lord?
“We are currently working on new singles titled ‘Tap out’ and ‘Preacher That’, and new videos for tracks ‘Anoshaina’ and ‘Reachout’,” Naison promised.
