PREPARATIONS are in full swing for the second edition of the Men2Men Indaba, an initiative spearheaded by Zimpapers Mutare stable — comprising The Manica Post and Diamond FM.
The event, set for next week at Madziro Leisure Centre, will bring together men and women from across Manicaland for a vibrant day of engagement, networking, entertainment, and empowerment.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural gathering, organisers are promising an even bigger and more interactive programme.
The Indaba will tackle pressing issues affecting modern-day men, while fostering an inclusive platform where families, professionals, entrepreneurs, and community members can freely engage on matters of health, wellness, and personal development.
The Men2Men Indaba was conceived as a response to growing concerns around men’s mental health, financial wellbeing, lifestyle-related illnesses, and the urgent need for stronger community support systems.
Over the years, experts have increasingly emphasised the importance of creating safe spaces where men can openly discuss challenges often considered taboo in society.
This year’s edition is expected to draw participants from diverse backgrounds, with discussions centred on mental health, sexual and reproductive health, financial discipline, nutrition, relationships, and overall wellbeing.
Organisers say the Indaba is, not just about dialogue, but about building a culture of openness, resilience, and empowerment.
With entertainment and networking woven into the programme, the event promises to be both informative and inspiring — a true celebration of community and progress.
Guests can look forward to a braai, refreshments, networking opportunities and entertainment from DJs on rotation throughout the day.
Adding to the excitement, organisers have also incorporated a World Cup watch party, ensuring that sports enthusiasts can enjoy football action while interacting with fellow participants.
Diamond FM DJs and presenters will be on rotation on the day, with pomp and funfair.
Organisers say the event seeks to encourage open and honest conversations, while equipping participants with practical tools to improve their lives and strengthen their families and communities.
Although the focus remains on issues affecting men, the event is not exclusive to men. Women are also being encouraged to attend and participate in discussions, recognising the important role they play in supporting men’s health, wellbeing and personal growth.
One of the key highlights will be discussions led by experts from various fields, including health practitioners, counsellors, financial advisors and motivational speakers. Participants will have an opportunity to engage directly with specialists on issues ranging from mental wellness and stress management to financial planning and healthy lifestyles.
One of the organisers, Eunice Sibanda, said the event is a platform aimed at reducing stigma and encouraging men to seek help when facing emotional, psychological or social challenges.
Financial literacy will also feature prominently, with discussions expected to focus on budgeting, saving, investing and responsible financial management in an increasingly demanding economic environment.
Sexual health and wellness conversations are also expected to form part of the programme, providing participants with an opportunity to access accurate information and professional guidance in a respectful and relaxed setting.
Beyond the discussions, the event has been designed to provide a fun and informal atmosphere where attendees can unwind and socialise.
“Health professionals will be available to conduct health check-ups, while counselling services will also be offered to those seeking professional guidance on personal or family matters. The event has been dubbed a ‘Daddy’s Day Out’, highlighting the importance of self-care and personal development among fathers and male role models who often place the needs of others ahead of their own. We believe the Indaba is not only about addressing challenges but also about celebrating brotherhood, friendship and positive masculinity,” she said.
She added: “The gathering is expected to create opportunities for networking among businesspeople, professionals, community leaders and entrepreneurs, while organisations will also have a chance to showcase products and services through exhibitions. The dress code of the day is denim. With insightful discussions, professional guidance, entertainment and networking opportunities all lined up, the event promises something for everyone.”
