Mandla Moyo, Sports Reporter

IN the yesteryear, netball was looked upon as a women’s sport with very few men taking interest in the sport, but all that is slowly changing with men taking up the sport resulting in the formation of a vibrant league for male netball teams.

Zimbabwe Men’s Netball Association (ZMNA) has lined a fiesta for the sport that will see 15 top teams from six provinces converge on White City Stadium from 14-15 December for the Men’s Champion of Champions Netball tournament.

ZMNA chairman, Tawanda Chidzombwa said preparations for the event were at an advanced stage.
“We know, to many, it is a shock that there are men playing netball. I believe this is the time they should come and see men taking up the sport.

Most people feel the sport has a feminine touch to it but as we have seen it can be played by both genders.
Registration will be done a day before the games begin which is on 13 December.

At the same time, we are also calling upon members of the public to come in huge numbers to witness exciting netball that will be played on the day,” said Chidzombwa. —@mandlamoyo3
