Mentally challenged woman abducted, raped

A 30-year-old mentally-challenged woman was raped repeatedly overnight by a neighbour who was later arrested over the Easter holidays, a Harare court has heard.

The woman was allegedly abducted by Maxwell Chipangura on April 7, and was dragged to a secluded place where he had parked his car.

He allegedly locked the woman inside the car and went to look for a blanket.

Upon his return, Chipangura then raped the woman several times till the next day.

At around 7am, he escorted her home and she disclosed the matter to her husband and a police report was made leading to Chipangura’s arrest. 

Chipangura appeared in court and was released on $60 000 bail.

Kelvin Munyimi prosecuted.
