Mentally unstable woman raped, killed

out of Beitbridge town along the same road.
Officer commanding police in Beitbridge district Chief Superintendent Lawrence Chinhengo said investigations were underway.

He identified the woman as Ms Tendai Zindoga adding that her body had been taken to United Bulawayo Hospital for a post-mortem.

Chief Supt Chinhengo said a motorist found Zindoga’s body by the roadside and alerted police.
“The body had two stab wounds on the head and neck.
“Detectives have also noted that she had been sexually abused by the assailant who later killed and dumped the body along the road.

“We recovered a passport along with some telephone numbers which led us to her relatives.
“Her brother confirmed that the woman had a mental problem and had disappeared from her Bikita home for over a week,” he said.

He said further investigations reveal that she had been threatening to go to South Africa when she started having mental problems.

“There were no struggle marks on the scene which indicates that the offence was committed elsewhere.
“We are appealing to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or make use of our suggestion boxes,” said Chief Supt Chinhengo.

The incident comes a few months after another woman was raped by three men who had offered to assist with the towing of her car that had developed a mechanical fault along the Beitbridge-Bulawayo road.
