A MAJOR Family Savings (MFS) employee and two external security guards have been hauled before the courts on allegations of stealing stock feed and fertilizers valued at more than $500 000 from the company’s Mutare depot.

Leeroy Nheredzo (32) of Area C, Dangamvura and the two Peace Security guards, Pemary Chizema (27) and Adjust Chibururu (31) appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mrs Perseverance Makala facing charges of stealing trust property as defined in Section 113 (2) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform Act), Chapter 9:23.

There were granted $10 000 bail each and will be back in court on September 9.

Public prosecutor, Mrs Muuya said the three connived to steal from the company.

“Nheredzo is employed by Major Family Savings in Mutare on casual basis responsible for the farming section. The other two suspects are employed by Peace Security Company which is contracted by Major Family Savings to provide security services.

“During the period extending from January 2021 to August 2021, the three accused persons hatched a plan to steal stock feed and inputs from the farming section. On different occasions, they stole 33x50kg of stock feed and 145x50kg of Ammonium Nitrate fertilizer,” said Mrs Muuya.

Nheredzo is alleged to have connived with the security guards to facilitate the smooth passage of the stolen property during working hours.

The complainant discovered this anomaly after a stock take was done and filed a police report.

Detectives picked up Nheredzo who implicated the two security guards.

He led police to the recovery of some of the stolen goods.

The stolen products were packed in MFS packages.
