SEASONED body-builder and fitness trainer Godwin Simba Mhaka is expected to leave the country on Wednesday ahead of Universe Powerlifting Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.
The contest will take place from September 12-14 and Mhaka, who has been in the gym for the past four months, is confident of bringing home some medals.
He will be taking part in his second international powerlifting event after his debut in Dubai back in April this year.
“I am happy with the way I prepared for the tournament. I have managed to recover from an injury I had during preparations and I have been working hard for the past four months,” he said.
“I am looking forward to break my personal best and make sure that my sweat has been rewarded. There will be a lot of competition as this is an elite event which needs focus and determination.”
The elite event will feature over 200 athletes from 50 countries, but Mhaka, fresh off past victories is determined to dominate.
“Judging from my past experience I think I will bring home more gold medals this time around.
“I have learnt from my past experiences and levelled up. I am grateful to Musabvunda Apparel and Total Fitness Zimbabwe for their support in fuelling this mission.”
Mhaka trophy cabinet boasts of titles like Mr Ironman Zimbabwe, Mr Zimbabwe, Mr Ironman Botswana and the 2017 Mr Pretoria Classics.
He also won gold in the World Fitness Federation’s Mr Universe Bermuda Beach Model category in Las Vegas, USA late last year.
