Buoyed by the success of his new album gospel musician Mathias Mhere unites with other gospel artistes for a celebration of his DVD at Dutch Reformed Church in the capital on tomorrow.
The musician said the DVD for “Double Double” was a success as several people were requesting for it.
“Without that DVD the Gwanda gospel gig (held recently) would not have been a success for me. Now people are familiar with the songs from that album because of the DVD,” he said.
The musician said his fans requested for the DVD success gig.
“These days public shows are difficult to host as artistes but I did this one for my fans who had requested that we come together to celebrate,” he said.
Mhere released “Double Double” DVD last month and the videos are fast gaining ground.
“When you are doing God’s work and it gets that overwhelming response you are encouraged. I have several individuals now who have offered to join the ship in marketing the videos,” he said.
The videos feature CAPS United and Warriors player Hardlife Zvirekwi, Alick Macheso dancer Seleman “Majuice” Mpochi and musician Mudiwa Mtandwa.
Other songs that are on the DVD are “Double Double”, “Simba”, “Nhau YaNoah”, “Makorokoza Muchurch,” and “Nhava Yebenzi”.
“Some people are now appreciating the album because of the videos. I wasn’t expecting such response,” he said.
The coming in of different faces brought exiting scenes to the videos.
“We have to be different and we managed to bring new faces. At the end of the day we are trying to be creative in bringing life to the music,” he said.
Mhere who rose to fame with his song “Favour” said they have managed to set up a team of people who are selling it in and outside Harare.
“It has been our norm to release videos, but this time around we released them shortly after the album because of the response,” he said.
