Mhere empowers band members

GOSPEL musician, Mathias Mhere, says he will not block band members from recording solo projects.
The 35-year-old believes that band members’ dreams should not be shattered.

He said this after one of his band members, Aleck Musuki, unveiled his new album titled ‘Ndisiye Ndikusvipe.’

Martha Annibal, Innocent Mungandaire and Givemore Makoka have also released solo projects with Mhere’s blessings.

In an interview, Mhere said he wanted to be remembered for empowering fellow musicians.

“I am the kind of boss who is determined to empower others to start their own projects.” He said..

“By the way, I met most of these guys doing solo projects and who am I to stop them?

“After all, I started as a backing vocalist for other groups and I was empowered before going solo.”

Mhere urged fellow band leaders to assist their band members.

“I have designed a contract where all my band members can record with my blessings,” he said.

“I know this is not common with most of the band leaders who only want band members to remain in their shells.

“A change of mindset is needed among groups in the mainstream music industry.”

Gospel musicians are known for empowering band members as compared to sungura groups where greed is stalling the growth of others.
