The Shabanie Mine community has taken the lead in funding the construction of a state-of-the-art science laboratory valued at $58 000 for Shabanie Mine Primary School.
The Government has praised the community for their proactive approach to enhancing the quality of education for their children.
Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Owen Ncube said that the community’s initiative to mobilise resources for local development should serve as a model for the surrounding areas.
He made these remarks during the commissioning of a computer laboratory and the handover of computers to Shabanie Mine and Mapazuli Primary Schools by Canterbury Mining (Private) Limited in Zvishavane recently.
Canterbury Mining (Private) Limited’s corporate secretary Samuel Rusike said that the donated laptops for the two schools were in support of the Government’s effort to promote research within the curriculum, particularly under the heritage-based 5.0 learning model.
He also said that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories in schools will greatly assist students in acquiring essential digital skills
