ZPC Kariba coach Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa has admitted he is now feeling the heat after his team which promised much in the initial stages of the campaign has gone for eight straight league matches without a victory. The Kariba side were in fourth place after Week 10 of the fixtures when they beat Tsholotsho 1-0 at Nyamhunga, but they have since slipped to seventh after drawing five matches and losing three of their last eight games.That 1-0 win over struggling Tsholotsho in which defensive pillar Tawanda Munyanduri scored the solitary goal was the last time Chidzambwa’s men bagged maximum points.
The veteran gaffer concedes he is feeling the pressure.
ZPC Kariba have found the going tough, especially in front of goal, although they have experienced forwards like Limited Chikafa and Tinei Chitora.
“Obviously, when a coach goes for such a long period without winning a game they have to feel the heat,” said Chidzambwa.
“I am under pressure to try and work out a winning formula for my team.
“We have gone for eight straight league matches without tasting a victory. That is bad enough.
“And we have to soldier on and prepare hard for the upcoming matches and return to winning ways.”
The Kariba team visit Chapungu at Ascot tomorrow hoping for a confidence-uplifting victory.
“I just hope that the bad spell is now over and I am looking forward to our match against Chapungu,” said Chidzambwa.
“It is every coach’s dream to win all the matches his team contests.
“Unfortunately, it has not been the case for us as we have been found wanting, especially in front of goal.
“We have been playing some fantastic football in the league, bossing the midfield and resolute in defence, but the goals have not been coming.
“I hope and trust that the goals will soon come.”
