DANIEL CHAKUPE scored a brace as Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa’s ZPC Kariba dispatched Bulawayo City at Nyamhunga yesterday.
Chakupe scored in either half though Chidzambwa was not particularly impressed by his team’s display in the second period.
Chakupe opened the scoring in the 44th minute after he was played in by in-form striker Francesco Zekumbawire, before completing his brace in the 63rd minute with Raphael Manuvire the provider this time.
ZPC Kariba are now on 12 points from six matches and remain unbeaten at Nyamhunga this season, with yesterday’s victory their second on the trot.
“The team is playing well and it’s good we picked up maximum points, but I was not impressed with how my boys fared in the second half. We will keep pushing,” said Chidzambwa, who has built a career on being a tough task master.
All said, Bulawayo City were not that bad, it was only that they found the ZPC trio trio of Chakupe, Manuvire and Zekumbawire in irresistible form.
City coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu praised his charges after the defeat.
“My team played well and we are not at all disgruntled. I am just worried with the way we defended and I am sure we will rectify that,” said Mpofu.
Bulawayo City host Black Rhinos in their next fixture while ZPC Kariba have a home tie against Tsholotsho.
Meanwhile, Harare City picked up their first win of the season when they beat Tsholotsho1-0 at Dulivhadzimu yesterday.
Farai Madhanaga scored from a free-kick to give under fire coach Mike Madzivanyika some breathing space.
