TALENTED reggae crooner, Mic Inity, and Germany-based Afro-pop and reggae musician, Finton Mumbure, popularly known as I-Finton, are set to trace back their roots when they share the stage tonight (Friday) at Golden Peacock Hotel.
Mic Inity, whose real name is Mike Madamombe, who is now based in Zambia last performed in the eastern border city in 2009.
Although his last album, titled Survivor, released last year, failed to make a mark in the music circles, the gifted chanter is set to restore lost glory and win back the hearts of doubters.
The album carries tracks such as Girl You Look Good and Song for Mama.
The award winning crooner, known for his swag and unique style, started his career as a vocalist at reggae outfit Transit Crew before taking a solo path.
He, however, rose to fame in 2008 when he staged a series of successful shows alongside local reggae legends in Harare, particularly at Red Foxx and Book Café (now The Volt).
German-based I-Finton, like wine has now improved with age.
In an interview, I-Finton promised to stage a memorable gig in front of his legion of fans expected to attend the much-awaited show.
“It’s our pleasure to stage a show in Mutare again. I promise to do my best and I urge my fans to come in numbers,” he said.
The versatile songwriter and guitarist last performed in Mutare two years ago after he performed alongside Oliver Mtukudzi at Motoring Club.
In August last year, I –Finton signed a big recording contract with a German recording label, Badaudio Basement.
He has since produced a four-track extended play project titled ‘Get ready’ which he will be promoting home.
One of the show organisers, Leonard ‘Lampy’ Tsikira, said all was in place for the show.
“Both artistes are ready for the show. Mic Inity is a renowned crooner and I-Finton is also a great performer. We hope Mutare will show them love and support them,” said the wheel spinner who is also popularly known as Zkit.
