MICHAEL JACKSON BIOPIC AMONG THE BLOCKBUSTERS AT NEW CINEMA HOUSE

THE Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, which smashed global box office rankings by raking in a whooping US$217 million worldwide on its opening weekend, is part of the movies which are set to be screened when Road House Cinema officially opens in Harare.

Michael was a runaway hit around the world and smashed records for the biggest biopic opening, which had been held for 11 years by Straight Outta Compton.

The movie reeled off US$97 million in the United States, in the opening weekend, before bringing in a further US$120 million from markets around the world.

It went past blockbusters like Oppenheimer and Bohemian Rhapsody and became the highest grossing film in the history of the Lionsgate franchise.

The other blockbusters, which are on the menu includes The Mandalorian, the beloved Star Wars universe expanded onto the big screen with Din Djarin and Grogu embarking on an epic new adventure across the galaxy, facing dangerous enemies, unexpected allies and a destiny that could reshape the future of the New Republic.

The Devil Wears Prada 2, the iconic fashion phenomenon which has returned with a fresh chapter exploring power, ambition and reinvention in a rapidly changing media and luxury fashion world, is also part of the menu.

And, so is Backrooms, a psychological horror experience which follows characters trapped within an endless maze of eerie spaces.

Tuner, a tense and atmospheric thriller centred on a Tina Turner, whose extraordinary talent draws audiences into a web of mystery, manipulation and high-stakes intrigue, and Masters of the Universe, where the legendary heroes of Eternia return in a spectacular fantasy adventure as He-Man battles the forces of Skeletor in an epic struggle to protect the universe from ultimate destruction, are also part of the menu.

Road House Cinema says it intends to bring the theatre experience back to Harare where families can go to movie houses and watch movies.

It will open its doors on Friday at Sam Levy Village in Borrowdale.
