ZIMBABWE Cheetahs coach, Liam Middleton, says his charges are moving in the right direction despite coming out of the IRB Sevens Cell C Series here at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium empty-handed.The Cheetahs were beaten 10-24 in the Shield semi-final by Canada and also lost 5-38 against Australia in the Bowl quarter-final.
Middleton feels his side, which had five new young players, improved with every game and their future looks good despite not picking up a win
“Brandon Boshi got better and better in every game he played, I am very pleased with his performance, it’s a sign of good player,” said Middleton.
“He is in the right direction on how to play on the wing in the sevens. Another player who showed a lot of effort was Boyd Rouse, I enjoyed that way he played in the match against Australia, it really showed his ability and his decisions on the field were great we got a good combination try by Biselele Tshamala.
“The guys were improving game by game, our game against Australia was our best game. We said it from our first game that we had to try and get better in every game, it is important that we improve in every game, yes, we would like to win because winning is important but there is a process in getting there. We had a lot of good tackles and our defence was good.”
The Cheetahs lost 35-5 in their opening match against Argentina, were beaten 35-7 against England. In their third fixture the Cheetah got a 48-0 hammering at the hands of Samoa.
