Midnight rage attack: Man batters neighbour’s wife

THOU shalt not lay your hands on your neighbour’s wife!

This is unwritten basic social etiquette that has been a cornerstone of civilisation for ages.

A Fort Rixon man, however, ignored it with near dire consequences.

Taurai Madubeko (22) of Makhayeni stormed into his neighbour’s home and savagely beat up the man’s wife after failing to find her husband at home.

Madubeko could not give a motive for the assault that left Sibonginkosi Mabhena hospitalised, when he appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Maxwell Ncube.

Prosecutor Mehluli Ndlovu said the shocking attack occurred on September 4 at around midnight.

Madubeko went to Sibonginkosi Mangena’s home and knocked on the door, demanding to see her husband, Prince Mafu.

When Mangena told him her husband was not around, Madubeko snapped. He forcefully pushed open the bedroom door and charged inside.

Without warning, he rabidly punched her three times; in the face and the stomach, and scratched her face in a fit of rage.

Mangena fought back and managed to push him away before he fled into the night.

A medical report presented in court confirmed she sustained injuries and had to be treated at Mpilo Central Hospital.

Madubeko was convicted of assault. He was slapped with a 12-month jail sentence, which was wholly suspended on condition he completes 420 hours of community service.
