THE Mighty Warriors will be eyeing redemption when they take on South Sudan in their second COSAFA Women’s Championship match, at Nelson Mandela Bay, this afternoon.

Zimbabwe senior national women’s team go into this tie licking their wounds after a 0-3 humbling defeat, at the hands of Tanzania.

If they had been asked to choose an opponent, to provide them with a chance to bounce back, it was likely they would have settled for the East Africans.

South Sudan got a baptism of fire, in their debut COSAFA match, when they were hammered 0-9 by Botswana, in the first match.

Botswana meet a fired-up youthful Tanzania, who turned on the style, in their humiliation of the Mighty Warriors.

Zimbabwe play their last group match on Monday.

The top team, from each group, will advance to the last four, and they will be joined by the best runners-up.

Yesterday, hosts South Africa were held to a goalless draw by Angola, in Group A match.

Malawi beat Mozambique 3-2, in another Group A match, yesterday.

Banyana Banyana have four points, after beating Malawi, in their tournament opener, on Tuesday.

The Zimbabwe game gets underway at 3.30pm.The Mighty Warriors should fancy their chances of winning this match, by a considerable margin, given their opponents only first played an international game two years ago. In Group C, Zambia began their campaign on a positive note when they thrashed Eswatini 5-0 on Thursday.

The other Group C fixture ,between Namibia and Uganda, ended in a goalless draw.
