The Cosafa champions are still searching for their first victory against the senior team after they drew 3-3 in the opening match on Tuesday.
On Thursday, the Mighty Warriors, who rested some of their regular players and gave first caps to Young Mighty Warriors players such as Mavis “Madam Chair” Chirandu and goalkeeper Portia Mukucha, hammered Uruguay developmental side which featured in last year’s Fifa World Cup.
Flame Lily striker Jeke, struck four times in the 16th minute, 20th minute, 29th minute and 45th minute, while substitute Marjoury Nyaumwe added the last one in the 77th minute.
The hosts pulled one back in the 24th minute, when Catherine Berni benefitted from a defensive blunder by defender Patience Mujuru.
“l am happy because it has been a very long time since l scored a goal for the national team. I am now fighting to score again in the last match. I was able to finish off all the balls as I was accurately positioned as a gunman,” said Jeke.
The Mighty Warriors, clearly outplayed the youthful side with a sleek passing game as defensive midfielder Emmaculate Msipa, who was given the nod ahead of Talent Mandaza, who played in the opening match, shone like a beacon.
Uruguay coach Eric Barindelli said it was a good match.
“The game was very good with lots of movement and change of positions. The majority of my players played at last year’s World Cup and we are just starting this year as we are preparing for a South America tournament in Paraguay.
“The Zimbabwe team was always opening us up and was more complete from the defence up to the strikers. I liked their no 5 (Msipa), she is a very good player,” said Barindell.
