Mighty Warriors hope to turn tables

THE Mighty Warriors will be hoping to turn the tables when they clash with Egypt in the first of two international friendlies this afternoon at the 6 October Stadium.
Both teams are preparing for the African Women Championships qualifiers and the coaches will be using the game as part of the preparations.

The African Women Championships will be held in October in Namibia.
The Mighty Warriors were here in 2011 when they played Egypt and Tunisia in the Arab Cup invitational tournament that was won by the hosts.

Now, the senior women national team are hoping for better results.
Mighty Warriors coach Rosemary Mugadza believes winning the game today and the other one set for Saturday will go a long way in boosting the team’s confidence ahead the qualifiers starting next month.

“We want to progress to the Afcon finals.
We are taking these two games very seriously as the technical team and we hope our girls will apply what we have been doing in the past three weeks,” said Mugadza.

“And we had our pep talk yesterday (Monday) after the training session just trying to inspire them by saying the Afcon qualifier starts now, they have to take this game seriously.

“What we need as a technical team is to have a positive start by winning the two matches.
“This is exactly what we require from them. As a team if you start winning everything will go into place and it’s easier to rectify each and every mistake in all the departments and we are hoping for a positive start.” she said.
