Mighty Warriors playeras father dies

MIGHTY Warriors defender Nobuhle Majikaas father passed away on Thursday at Bulawayoas Mpilo Central Hospital.

Zimbabwe Womenas Football League (ZWFL) vice-chairperson Samukeliso Silengane said they lost a rare father figure who supported his daughteras dreams.

a?This is a great loss. As ZWFL we have lost a rare father figure. He was one of the few men who mentored and allowed their girl children to take up football as a profession. He was a great parent and it is painful that his death came at a time the womenas national team is preparing to take part in the Cosafa Cup contest,a? said Selengane.

Majika, a seasoned Mighty Warriors player who rose to fame after playing well for Bulawayo-based womenas football club Inline Academy, was part of the womenas national team that took part in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

She was also in the Mighty Warriors history making squad that participated in the African Women Africa Cup of Nations (Awcon) hosted by Cameroon last year. .
