adminX FACTOR bosses threatened to cut Miley Cyrus’ performance after the saucy star refused to pre-record it.
And with her recent stage antics in mind everyone expected the rebellious young star to give us something memorable on X Factor’s result show on Sunday night
But it seems viewers were left disappointed with her performance taking to Twitter to slate her live vocals and said she was “boring” for covering up.
The 20-year-old began her rendition of number one hit “Wrecking Ball” sitting on top of a fake sand dune positioned in a large box as Twitter set alight with comments from bemused viewers.
Phillip Schofield said: “Miley Cyrus opens the new #xfactor dry ski slope”, while many others couldn’t believe she was covered up — baring nothing but her feet.
Another twitter user said: “Oooh a sheer, shiny dress. But one Kate Moss wore about 15 years ago #miley #XFactor’.
Others compared her dress to bacofoil and her look as a whole to resemble “Disney” character Aladdin, a Ferrero Rocher and asked if Miley had given up singing to turn fortune teller.
Miley’s unique outfit was a mix of designer and vintage with her gold crepe dress by Marc Jacobs and Chanel jewellery with the black turban from Brick Lane market in London.
It was a much more conservative outfit choice for the star who normally performs in anything from PVC underwear to teddy bear suits.
Viewers seemed to feel let down as she heeded X Factor bosses and didn’t rebel although judging by her brief chat on stage afterwards the powers that be wanted her off stage as quickly as possible.
After a very brief chat with Dermot the singer dashed off within seconds of her performance ending.
However, she did manage to get in a plug for her upcoming European tour.
She told show host Dermot O’Leary: “I will be here next year in the spring on my Bangerz tour . . . I will be here for a very long time so I’m looking forward to seeing you here next year.”
It wasn’t only her outfit and the odd set design that attracted criticism, her vocals didn’t impress.
One viewer tweeted: “I think even I could sing Wrecking Ball better than Miley Cyrus just did.”
And another said: “Miley proving she’s adept at climbing. Not sure about the singing.”
But not all viewers had such harsh views on Miley’s vocals with some looking for other reasons as to why they thought she was a bit off key on the night.
One tweeted: “I wouldn’t say #MileyCyrus was as bad as people are making her out to be, she was probably sick or nervous, I thought she was good and tried.” — Daily Mail.
