FIVE   Form   Four    pupils    from    Milton High    School   in   Bulawayo   reportedly   stole   seven   cellphones   during   a  rugby   match   at   Falcon   College   in   Esigodini   on Saturday. The pupils aged between 15 and 17 allegedly stole two Blackberry cellphones, two Samsungs, one Nokia C3, a Nokia X201 and a Blackberry Curve from Falcon College pupils.
Although the pupils were not arrested, investigations started yesterday in the presence    of   either  their  parents  or guardians.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Philisani Ndebele yesterday said investigations were in progress and said the phones have been recovered.

“We are investigating a case of cellphone theft where five Milton High School pupils aged between 15 and 17 are involved.
“The police report was received on Saturday on 29 June and all the cellphones were recovered,” said Insp Ndebele.

Milton High School headmaster Mr Misheck Ngwenya confirmed that boys  from his school stole the cellphones.
He however said three pupils were involved and not five. He said a disciplinary meeting would be held today with the parents and guardians of the pupils.

“Our  rugby   school team had gone to Falcon College for a rugby fixture on Saturday. Three boys in Form Four who are new to the squad are the ones whom I am told stole seven cellphones in the changing room that were in a bag that belonged to Falcon boys.

“After the game when the cellphones were reported missing, a search was launched and the cellphones were recovered stashed in pairs of socks while some had hidden them in their shirts and blazer pockets,” said Mr Ngwenya.

He said one of the pupils was likely to face expulsion amid reports that he had been involved in a cellphone theft before.
“The police talked to the pupils and requested that they come back today (yesterday) with either their parents or guardians since they could not be detained or arrested.

“There is a possibility that the others will not face expulsion but the disciplinary committee is likely to recommend that one of the pupils who is in the habit of stealing should be expelled,” he said.
