adminWAR Veterans Minister Christopher Mutsvangwa has responded venomously to statements by one of the war veterans’ council of elders member Cde George Mlala that he is creating his own political empire within the Ministry saying he has no time for the Mlala type whom he described as one of the perennial detractors suffering from a serious Selous Scout hangover.
Responding to a story carried by Sunday News recently while he was in China, Welfare Services for the War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees Minister Mutsvang wa said: “I’m in China in pursuit of business projects with global corporate players in business. I am on a new template to incubate entrepreneurs out of war veterans.
“I have no time for Mlala type, perennial detractors with a Selous Scout shade during the prosecution of the national liberation war.”
In a question and answer session that was published by this paper a few weeks ago, Cde Mlala laid into Minister Mutsvangwa accusing him of trying to create his political empire and hedging it with some war veterans.
Responding to the questions on what transpired during the Bulawayo war veterans meeting that was characterised by chaos, Cde Mlala said, “The answer to what happened during that fateful meeting is very clear, Minister Mutsvangwa is starting to create his own political power. He is simply creating a political empire. Very soon we will be convening a meeting where we will summon the national chairperson to explain everything which he is doing,” he said.
Minister Mutsvangwa, however, had no kind words for Cde Mlala. He did not only label Cde Mlala a Selous Scout but went further accusing him of embezzling funds when he was working as a paralegal at Bulawayo City Council.
“Mlala also embezzled funds when he dubiously worked as a paralegal at Bulawayo City Council and has no support base at all,” he added.
