Zifa Southern Region Division One League leading scorer, Mbongeni Minezhi, has set his sights on winning the Golden Boot award and potentially attracting the attention of top-flight league teams.
The Bulawayo City forward tops the scoring charts with 15 goals, four matches from the season’s end.
ZPC Hwange’s Justin Kaunda and Tatenda Ushe closely follow with 14 goals each while Nkayi United’s Tinotenda Chitete has 12 goals.
Zimbabwe Saints’ Keith Chikamhi completes the top five with nine goals.
“It’s been a good season for me. I’m grateful to my teammates and coaches for helping me achieve this success. I wouldn’t be the top scorer without them. With a few games left, I’m hoping to continue finding the back of the net. Winning the Golden Boot will be very special for me,” said Minezhi.
It is hoped that his impressive form may catch the attention of Premier Soccer League teams.
“I’m focused on finishing the season strongly and seeing where it takes me. If opportunities arise, I’ll consider them,” he added.
Bulawayo City will be hoping Minezhi’s goalscoring form continues to propel them up the table.
