The developed world has a historical responsibility to assist developing countries with resources and technology to adapt to and mitigate against the ravages of climate change, a Government Minister has said.
In an interview with The Herald here yesterday, Environment, Water and Climate Minister Cde Saviour Kasukuwere accused developed countries of arrogance, warning that their continued refusal to accept global conventions created to fight climate change could have catastrophic repercussions.
“In principle, it remains the responsibility of the polluter to pay for the damage of the ozone layer. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the developed world to assist developing countries in adopting, mitigating and coming up with ways of stopping further damage to the ozone layer,” Minister Kasukuwere said.
