Makonde Rural District Council has acquired a borehole drilling rig, a fire tender, tractors, a tipper truck, a backhoe loader, and 26 motorbikes for councillors.
The service delivery equipment, worth US$650 000, was acquired using devolution and internally generated funds.
Permanent Secretary Mr Josphat Jaji represented Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo at the commissioning event.

The equipment is expected to enable Makonde RDC to fulfil the Government’s aspirations of rural development and industrialisation through village business units.
The fire tender will also help in responding to accidents along the Harare-Chinhoyi Highway.
The event was attended by Makonde legislator Cde Simbarashe Ziyambi, Makonde RDC CEO Dr Panganai Munyede, council chairman Misheck Nyarubero and councillors.
