Minister Chombo tours US$3,5million Chegutu complex

Walter Nyamukondiwa in CHEGUTU

Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo is touring a multipurpose business complex that is under construction in Chegutu, as well as a public swimming pool that is being rehabilitated in the town.

The swimming pool was built in 1945 and has not been operational for years while the business complex, which will house a shopping mall, a supermarket and space for other activities, will help raise the town’s profile.

The project is being spearheaded by Addarcon Construction Company and dovetails with the Government’s thrust of promoting development through public-private-partnerships.

The complex is being built under a 25-year build-operate and transfer arrangement. It sits on 4 000 square metres of land that had been lying idle.

Minister Chombo said there is support from the private sector in promoting urban renewal.

She hailed locals for taking up President Mnangagwa’s challenge for everyone to step up and be agents for the country’s development.
