Minister dismisses sex pills claims

THE Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development, Nyasha Chikwinya, has dismissed reports that she distributed sex-enhancing tablets at a Zanu-PF rally in Gokwe-Nembudziya last Saturday.

The Minister told The Chronicle that she only gave people paracetamol, a pain-killer, not sex-enhancing tablets as reported by Newsday, a privately-owned newspaper.

“Why on earth would I do such a thing at my level and position? Do you really think I would do such a thing publicly? Actually I only distributed medication which was in the form of paracetamol tablets which are painkillers and not those tablets the media is talking about,” said Chikwinya

The Minister said the painkillers were part of gifts from the First Lady Cde Grace Mugabe to the people.

“I’m also in shock as to where people are getting those ideas. We gave out lot of gifts such as sewing machines, food hampers, soap, tons of clothing items, loads of donations for those on the irrigation schemes, computers and a lot more inclusive of that medication,” she said.

Newsday reported on Tuesday that Chikwinya, who was the guest of honour at the rally, ordered youths to leave the meeting after her address and started distributing some blue pills to elderly men and women.

The paper claimed that the Minister could be in trouble with the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) if it turns out she had no clearance to distribute the sex-enhancing pills.
