Minister hails UZ-ZDF partnership

Minister Ignatius Chombo made the remarks yesterday in his keynote address at the graduation of 75 officers. Sixty-three attained diplomas in Defence and Security Studies while 12 graduated with diplomas in Adult Education.

Minister Chombo paid tribute to the UZ for sponsoring the two courses, which were on a part and full-time basis.

“I would like to commend the strategic alliance between the UZ and the ZSC that has produced versatile officers who are able to execute their duties diligently both at home and abroad,” said Minister Chombo. “This graduation is not only for the ZDF, but for the entire region as there are officers drawn from other Sadccountries.”

He said the participation of military officers from Zambia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Botswana and Lesotho provided a conducive environment for “cross-pollination of ideas”.

Minister Chombo expressed hope that the strategic alliance between UZ and the ZSC would encompass other areas, like science and technology.

In a speech read on his behalf by the pro-vice chancellor Prof Chipo Dyanda, Vice-Chancellor Levi Nyagura hailed the UZ leadership in guiding the ZSC.
