REVERED gospel singer Minister Michael Mahendere has been described as a gifted and consistent singer, who has contributed immensely to the country’s music industry.

The remarks were made by the Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Mr Kindness Paradza, during Minister Mahendere’s 40th birthday celebrations held in Harare.

The “Ndinobuda Pakaoma” singer turned a year older on May 28 and hosted a top-class birthday dinner and party on Saturday last week.

The chic event was graced by high-profile figures from all walks of life.

“His music has touched the hearts and souls of countless individuals from different backgrounds, providing inspiration, hope, and spiritual nourishment.

“It is remarkable to see how his music resonates not only within Zimbabwe but also across international borders. He has become one of Zimbabwe’s greatest musical exports, showcasing the rich talent and cultural heritage of our nation to audiences around the world,” said Deputy Minister Paradza.

The singer’s music career has been on an upward trend since he embarked on a solo career.

He has been consistently delivering hits, among them “Makanaka Jesu” and “Victory”, which have won the hearts of many through their poignant messages.

The musician revealed that he plans to assist fellow gospel artistes to expand their music careers by setting up a state-of-the-art studio dedicated to them.

Guests who attended the birthday celebrations were left spellbound.

“Everything looks perfect; we have never missed any of his shows. At one point, I even travelled to Bindura because I’m a top fan.

“We have always known Minister Mahendere as a man of excellence. This is a befitting 40th birthday celebration; after all, life begins at 40. We are happy his music career continues to blossom,” said a Mr Tadiwa and his wife, who were among the audience.

Minister Mahendere received several gifts during the celebrations, which included mines from an anonymous guest and two return tickets to Victoria Falls from businesswoman Zodwa Mkandla.

He also got US$15 000 from Grey Homes; and US$150 000, presented by Madam Boss and was a contribution from eight of the various musicians who attended the dinner party.

“The proceeds from this event will go towards our three major projects, with the first and major one being a state-of-the-art studio that we want to construct. At 40, I should be positively impacting other people’s lives,” said Minister Mahendere.
