Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona is leading a delegation to commission the Norton Toll Plaza on Thursday.
He is accompanied by Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo, Zinara Board Chairperson Dr George Manyaya, legislators, and senior government officials.

The Government recently commenced the construction of state-of-the-art toll plazas along major highways to address congestion at toll gates.
A toll plaza has more lanes compared to a toll gate, allowing more vehicles to be cleared simultaneously, which reduces traffic jams at these points.
Currently, there are 33 toll gates nationwide. Zinara has announced plans to build more toll plazas and roll out e-tags across the country to improve efficiency, enhance motorists’ convenience, and reduce operational costs.

The ZINARA eTag is a radio frequency identification (RFID)-based electronic toll payment solution designed to provide a faster, safer, and more convenient travel experience across Zimbabwe’s toll network.
Launched in December 2024, it enables cashless, automatic toll deductions from a prepaid or linked account, improving efficiency for both motorists and operators.

So far, Zinara is also implementing eTolling, a cashless system that allows road users to make payments for road use using card facilities or e-tags at toll gates, without requiring vehicles to stop.
This process does not necessitate physical toll booths on the highways.
