MINISTER of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza has called for intensified action against drug and substance abuse in the province, urging communities to unite against the growing social challenge.
Speaking at a press conference at his office this afternoon, Minister Mugadza said all districts must match the drive to combat drug and substance abuse with urgency and determination.
“We must fight this with the zeal and aggressiveness it deserves,” said Minister Mugadza.
He said the battle against drugs cannot be left to government alone, calling on families, churches, community leaders, the private sector and young people to play an active role in protecting communities.
“The fight against drug and substance abuse is everyone’s responsibility. Government alone cannot overcome this challenge without the active participation of families, communities, the private sector, faith-based organisations and young people themselves,” he said.
Minister Mugadza also urged parents and guardians to monitor their children closely and guide them away from dangerous substances.
“Parents and guardians are urged to remain vigilant and engaged in the lives of their children. Community leaders must continue to foster environments that discourage drug use and support recovery,” he added.
Hs remarks come amid growing concern over rising cases of drug and substance abuse among youths in the province.
