Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, has been appointed new patron of the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) with effect from July 1.
She takes over from the previous chairperson, Dr Mike Bimha, whose term was seen as successful.
Minister Mutsvangwa will be the MAZ patron in her capacity as the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
The MAZ board said Minister Mutsvangwa has shown exemplary leadership in executing her responsibilities in Government and at national level, which makes her the “best foot forward for our growing Association”.
In her acceptance note, Minister Mutsvangwa said she looked forward to steering the MAZ ship with diligence and professionalism.
“I am looking forward to working with you and your board to champion marketing excellence and professionalism across Zimbabwe during the subsistence of my tenure,” she said.
Minister Mutsvangwa is a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in International Marketing from Baruch College — City University of New York, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University, New Jersey, United States.
She has previously served as the Zimbabwe Tourism promotion officer from the North American travel market based in New York from 1985 to 1990, before being elevated to Director of International Marketing for the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) in New York from 1990 to 1992, among other national responsibilities.
The MAZ board said it looked forward to leverage on Minister Mutsvangwa’s vast networks to encourage other renowned leaders to contribute their time and knowledge to the intellectual enrichment of MAZ’s programmes.
