Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi has been nominated among 10 African ministers for the prestigious Unstoppable Cabinet Minister of the Year award.
The nomination recognises ministers whose leadership and policy interventions have delivered measurable transformation in their respective countries and sectors.
The Unstoppable African Awards celebrate visionary Africans whose work is transforming lives across business, governance, education, healthcare, innovation, diplomacy, humanitarian work, culture, sport and public service.
Part of the award citation reads: “Recognizing government ministers whose bold administrative reforms, transparent policy implementation, and high-impact national infrastructure or social development blueprints deliver transformative results.”
Minister Rwodzi’s nomination comes after she emerged as the top-performing Minister in President Mnangagwa’s 2025 Cabinet earlier this year.
Her recognition comes as the tourism sector continues to expand its contribution to Zimbabwe’s economy, with the industry positioning itself as the country’s third-largest foreign currency earner.
Minister Rwodzi has been credited with driving initiatives aimed at accelerating growth and development in tourism, while strengthening Zimbabwe’s position as a competitive destination.
The sector has also attracted two key international accolades, further raising Zimbabwe’s profile on the global tourism map.
The latest nomination provides further international recognition of Zimbabwe’s tourism drive at a time when the Government is seeking to leverage the sector to generate foreign currency, create jobs and attract investment.
The Unstoppable African Awards seek to shine a spotlight on African leaders and changemakers making a significant impact through innovative approaches and transformative initiatives.
Minister Rwodzi’s nomination therefore places Zimbabwe’s tourism leadership among a wider continental field of ministers being recognised for their contribution to national development.
