BULAWAYO has the potential to lead in the production of value added products in the region, which could be achieved through innovation and collaboration by different stakeholders.
Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Judith Ncube, said this yesterday while addressing business leaders at an investment conference held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds.
She challenged both the private and public sector think tanks to collaborate and exchange ideas so as to come up with solutions to the challenges facing the country.
“We need to share ideas and exchange notes on how best we can embrace this national vision and cultivate and nurture ideas that will assist us to achieve our goals,” she said.
“President Mnangagwa has engaged the international community with the declaration that Zimbabwe is open for business. We would like to boldly declare that Bulawayo is open for business and this conference has the opportunity to interrogate the attractiveness of our offering as a province as we journey towards our national vision to become an upper middle income economy by the year 2030.”
Minister Ncube urged business leaders to be critical thinkers in their business operations saying the country needs strong minds for it to progress.
“As a nation we need to think outside the box and remove the limitations that are in our mindsets about taking our rightful place as a leading producer of value added products,” said the Minister.
She reiterated that partnerships were critical in unlocking new investment opportunities and called on business leaders to play their part to help the nation grow economically.
Industry and Commerce Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu and Bulawayo Mayor Solomon Mguni attended the event.
