A Mozambican minor dragged her Zimbabwean lover to court in a bid to compel him to contribute towards the upkeep of a child he sired with her. The minor, whose name cannot be disclosed due to her age, sought the courts’ intervention to persuade his lover to look after his child. Last year, the duo appeared before the same magistrate as the minor applied for a protection order against her partner whom she accused of harassing her.
At the time, the man was accused of insulting, assaulting and evicting the complainant from their home. The minor reportedly spent several nights in the open with her child.
The magistrate, who ordered the man to pay $30 as maintenance, advised him to apply for the child’s custody if he fears for its safety.
