A BULAWAYO woman miscarried after her boyfriend’s aunt allegedly kicked her on her privates. Siphamandla Nyoni, 21, of Entumbane suburb, was admitted to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) following the alleged attack by Silia Hikwa, 43, of Emakhandeni.

Hikwa allegedly ran amok when she found Nyoni standing at her nephew’s flea market stand at Basch Street Bus Terminus, popularly known as Egodini, a magistrate heard.

Her nephew is Nyoni’s boyfriend.

Hikwa, together with two other women, allegedly hurled insults at Nyoni who was with her aunt and chased them away.

According to the medical report, Nyoni was 15 weeks pregnant at the time.

As Nyoni and her aunt ran from the trio, Hikwa allegedly kicked Nyoni on her pubic region. Hikwa appeared yesterday before Bulawayo magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa facing a charge of assault. She pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to March 9.

Prosecuting, Munyonga Kuvarega said on February 14, at around 4PM, Nyoni was escorted by her aunt to meet Nyoni’s boyfriend.

They wanted to schedule a date with his father to inform them about her pregnancy.
