Authority struck a partnership with the Miss Zimbabwe Trust.
Miss Zimbabwe Trust licenses all pageants in Zimbabwe, including the Miss Chitungwiza contest.
The latest development will see models from Chitungwiza competing at provincial level for them to qualify for the Miss Zimbabwe competition.
The revival of Miss Chitungwiza has been well received by models in the town who said brings about a level playing field in the modelling industry.
Event co-ordinator, Raynadine Monson – who was Miss Harare 2002 first princess before becoming a Miss Zimbabwe finalist the same year – applauded the move by the ZTA and Miss Zimbabwe Trust to revive the pageant in the town.
“The idea behind Miss Chitungwiza is to give girls from the satellite town a chance to qualify for Miss Zimbabwe.
“Previously girls from Chitungwiza were somehow disadvantaged as they were forced to run under Miss Harare which was packed and fiercely contested,” she said.
Auditions have already started for the search of the 20 beauties that will battle it at the Miss Chitungwiza finals to be held at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex on November 26.
Two queens who will emerge victorious will then proceed to the Miss Zimbabwe contest.
