Deborah Chidavaenzi, the licence holder of the Miss Harare, called on young women to participate and enjoy the once in a lifetime opportunity to be the country’s ambassador for charity.
“The Miss Harare is back and we are calling on all young women to come for auditions. It’s been long since Harare retained the title and this year the judges will not compromise on the standards because we want to have a Miss Zimbabwe from Harare. As we speak we are still to finalise on the prizes but we assure aspiring models that there will be a fantastic package for the winner,” she said.
According Chidavaenzi, the Miss Harare licence includes satellite towns like Ruwa, Beatrice, Norton and Chitungwiza. What this means is that would-be contestants in these towns can enter the Miss Harare.
“We are hoping that the contest will attract the right models including those from other towns like Ruwa, Norton and Chitungwiza. We appeal to young women who have what it takes to come and be proud of being Zimbabwean,” Deborah said.
She said the theme for this year’s Miss Harare is “Developing the girl child through empowerment”.
This would be the second time that Miss Zimbabwe Trust is organising the Miss Zimbabwe after taking over from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. There are high hopes that the trust will this year get everything right and retain the glitz and glamour that was once associated with Miss Zimbabwe.
