Miss Harare Jnr on tonight

A girl’s most beautiful outfit ever is charisma, the prettiest accessory is her smile and the best pair of heels is her confidence. Well, this is a story set to be told tonight at a beauty pageant to be hosted by Harare Junior Council. Twenty-five girls from various high schools and colleges around Harare are set to compete tonight for the coveted title of Miss Harare Junior 2013. The pageant, which is set to take place at the Rainbow Parklane Cinema, will run under the theme “Dawn of Beauty”.

The winner will walk away with clothing vouchers from different shops, a two-year modelling contract and two nights at the Holiday Inn.
In an interview with Cool Lifestyle, Chief Whip of the pageant, Audrey Tirivanhu, said the show is geared at developing and showcasing the talents and skills of the teenagers.

“All is set for the pageant and this year is bigger and better. Our girls have received pampering and grooming lessons and we are ready for the show,” she said.

“We are working with a professional choreographer and I can’t divulge much of the surprises,” she said.

Some of the schools that are being represented include Mabvuku High, Queen Elizabeth High, Girls High School, UMAA, Trust Academy, Arundel, Westridge and Pinewood High among others.

“We are overwhelmed by some organisations that have come on board to work with us. Again there is a local designer who is doing the girls’ dresses and a make-up artist of which it is a plus to us,” she said.

Last year the pageant saw Anesu Samkange of Arundel High School crowned the winner after shrugging off 17 other contestants at a colourful ceremony at Pandhari Lodge.
