Miss Holiday contest

Aisha Kagwere, 10 years, Avondale Primary school
After a tiresome and strenuous karate session, nothing could have brightened the day more than the Miss Hoilday event I witnessed at Selbourne Routledge Primary School.

This competition was hosted by Fearfully and Wonderfully Created affiliated with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.

“We had about 10 ambassadors from different schools and we had three categories for Miss Holiday which are namely Miss holiday infant 4-7 years, Miss Holiday Junior 8-10 years, Miss Holiday Senior 11-13years” said Tungamirai Mpofu of Fearfully and wonderfully created.

I was welcomed by colour and vibrancy of beautiful African maidens from various tribes of Zimbabwe. The outfits ranged from wonderful designs and make up. I was co-presenter with Miledis Marufu of Avonlea School, I had to change quickly into suitable outfit, thanks to my glam squad a.k.a my mum.

This event was educational and an eye opening experience in which I got to learn about different cultures, how they dress and the different utensils used in the African homes.

Above all I saw 10 models walk away with crowns and hampers.

For the infants Tamiranashe from Queensdale Primary School was the 1st Princess, 2nd Princess Rochelle from Hallingbury school and the Queen Charmaine from Admiral Tait School.

For the Junior Samantha from Admiral Tait 1st Princess, 2nd Princess Chiedza Masango and Queen was Kiesha Bhunga from Borrowdale Primary School.

For the seniors 2nd princess was Nokutenda Magara from Highlands school and 1st Princess went to Racheal from Hatfield Primary school and the Queen was Makanaka Kambanje from Avonlea Primary.

It was a lovely event that groomed us all into future ladies.
