Zimbabwean model Miss Blessing Mutamba, who recently won the Miss Ireland International contest, has pledged to promote youth empowerment, especially girls, so they can contribute meaningfully to the economy.
The 23-year-old, who also won the side awards of Miss Photogenic and Best-In-Interview, said this when she paid a courtesy call on Zimbabwean ambassador to United Kingdom Retired Colonel Christian Katsande at the Zimbabwe House in London.
She was accompanied by her mother, Mrs Netty Mutamba. Miss Mutamba lives in Guernsey Channel Islands in the UK.
Miss Mutamba said she would lobby global companies, managers and entrepreneurship gurus to support the mentorship and capacitation of the youth to become entrepreneurs, self-reliant and effectively contribute to Zimbabwe’s national economic recovery efforts.
“Ambassador Katsande highly commended and congratulated Miss Mutamba and took the opportunity to exchange views with the newly crowned Miss Ireland International on how she could contribute in promoting tourism, sports, arts, culture and trade and investment opportunities in Zimbabwe,” reads a statement from the embassy.
“The parties agreed to explore ways to assist working with the sports cluster in fundraising for the Zimbabwe Netball Team scheduled to participate at the World Netball Cup Tournament in Liverpool in July 2019.”
