The first and second princesses were Fadzai Mubata and Ruramisai Ngara.
Naseema Omar is the new Miss Personality after coming forth in the competition.
For winning the pageant the beauty queen walked away $300 richer with the first and second princess getting $200 and $100 respectively. The first princess also earned herself accommodation for two people for two nights, courtesy of Flamboyant Regency Hotel. It was not only a contest for beauty but brains as well as the contestants had to answer questions on different subjects to do with the country, environment and other social issues.
Hama managed to answer most of the questions correctly and she was crowned Miss Masvingo.
The judges said in awarding marks they looked at beauty, brains and assertiveness of contestants when answering questions.
Judges however conceded that the competition was very stiff and it was therefore a difficult task to come up with a winner.
Hama said she was happy to win the competition and will prepare hard for the national finals.
“I am happy to be the beauty queen of Masvingo. It is every model’s dream to be the best.
“I also promise to do my best at the Miss Zimbabwe finals,” she said.
The Miss Masvingo beauty pageant was sponsored by Tatenda Imports and Exports with Maworesa Stores providing costumes for the contestants.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has since weaned the national pageant to the corporate world, as they said it had become expensive to run the competition.
Tatenda Imports and Exports director Tinashe Magumbu was happy that the beauty pageant had gone well and promised to improve next year.
“I am quite happy with the success of this competition and would like to congratulate winners for their polished display. I hope next year the competition will be bigger and better.
“This was our maiden competition and we have learnt one or two things so that come next year we will hold a competition of a bigger magnitude.”
