Miss Mazowe Trust to hold fund raising dinner

Founder and organiser of the Trust, Garikai Manyuchi, said that at least US$10 000 is required to successfully host the finals of pageant to be held on December 1.

“We have been having challenges with regards to sponsorship for the pageant and we hope this fundraising dinner dance will help us raise at least US$10 000, which we will channel towards the event next month” said Manyuchi.

He said that the event, which has been running for the past eight years, had grown but continued to face financial challenges as a result of lack of sponsorship from the corporate sector.
“The trust is passionate about the event and its benefit to society.
“We have been running it for about eight years, but we have faced a lot of challenges, with the issue of sponsorship coming tops.

“Nonetheless, the obstacles have not deterred us as we continue holding the event every year.
“We are very grateful to our local traditional sponsors that include Mazowe Hotel, Mazowe Mine and Coach House Inn.

“These guys have made the running of the event year-in, year-out possible,” said Manyuchi.
The Miss Mazowe final will be a battle among a bevy of beauties that were selected from various places around the Mazowe area, that include Mvurwi, Concession and Glendale. Some participants from Bindura, due to proximity, will also be allowed to take part.

As is tradition, winners of the event will automatically qualify for the Miss Mashonaland Central and if they win that will go to the Miss Zimbabwe pageant.

Upcoming and talented jazz musician, Diva Hondoyenzomba, who is backed by the Black Ways Band is expected to keep the guests entertained.

The young man who started his professional career after participating in the annual Chibuku Road to Fame competition in 2010 has been enjoying a good run in a number of top clubs in and around Harare.

Member of Parliament for Mazowe South Margaret Zinyemba is expected to be the guest of honour, while Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Nicholas Goche will also attend the dinner.
The Chinese and Swedish embassies among others have also been invited.

Admission for a couple is US$50, which is inclusive of dinner, drinks and entertainment.
The event is scheduled to start at 7pm.
