QUEEN of ramp, Jemima Mandemwa, will be representing Zimbabwe at the Miss Planet International 2022 pageant to be held on November 19 in Kampala, Uganda.
Having won nine crowns, including two international gongs, the model said she is honoured to represent Zimbabwe at Miss Planet and bring the crown home despite the challenges she has faced in the industry.
In an interview with H-Metro, Jemima said:
“Truly, I feel honoured and excited, it’s quite a massive responsibility as I’m the pioneer for the beauty pageant, and I intend to set an example that will encourage females to take up roles in the same contest in 2023.
“Modelling provides a platform to showcase one’s talent and the ability to create social change and winning this means the world to me.
“I’m one passionate model who seeks a bigger platform to impact the lives of many around me and serve the planet.
“Miss Planet International will enable me to broaden my platform within environmental care, to work closely with prominent organisations like the United Nations, despite the negative perceptions and comments from people on taking up modelling as a career,” she said.
Jemima is currently seeking to broaden her platform of influence within the modelling, tourism and Environment Sector of Zimbabwe through her active movement, “Let’s Talk Green Zimbabwe.
In 2019, she placed second for The Miss Super Globe in Dubai and she was awarded the Continental Miss Super Globe Africa crown.
