TWENTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD model Patricia Masunungure was crowned the inaugural Miss Summer Marondera after outwitting other 14 contestants.

The pageant saw Glender Mabhodha becoming the first princess while her sister Glee Mabhodha was crowned the second Princess.

Organiser of the pageant, Marondera’s celebrated rapper Felexi “Flexi J” Juru of TMF Records, said the motive behind the pageant is to uplift the young girls.

“We held the event on Saturday and we dubbed it Miss Summer 22.

“I organised this event with the aim of uplifting the girl child through providing an opportunity for contestants to gain essential life skills, such as confidence, in front of large crowds.

“We also want to see them developing a sense of self-esteem.

“I was assisted by modelling guru Nomuhle Mpuli who trained the girls and turned them into winners,” he said.

Juru said the Miss Summer will be an annual event.

“It was a night to remember since we had different singers including myself, Mwenje Mathole, Nyasha Timbe, among others, who blazed the stage.

“I took time to sample my upcoming single titled Ronaldo which is set to be released in two weeks’ time.

“The event also gave us an opportunity to discover that the people are starved of such events.

“It had been a decade since Marondera hosted such a classic beauty pageant,” he said.
