Miss Teen of the Universe Zim to empower young girls

After successfully launching a fresh pageant — Miss Teen of the Universe at a glamorous cocktail party held at the De Lux Villa last weekend, the organisers of the parade have revealed that the much anticipated catwalk will be held on 3 August at the

Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Hall 3.

Miss Teen of the Universe pageant was founded in India by Sourav Anad and it is distinct from Miss Teen Universe Zimbabwe.

The international parade caters to girls aged between 15 to 20 years.

The event planned to be a red carpet affair will run under the theme “Empowering the Girl Child through Promoting Culture and Heritage towards Vision 2030.”

Businesswoman and stylist guru, Mitchell “Mimi” Tshuma will be the executive stylist for the pageant. Participants for the pageant should be Zimbabwean and must never have been married and must hold a Zimbabwean passport. They must never have had photographic nudes or sexual videos.

The winner will represent Zimbabwe at the international competition in India and will also clinch a scholarship that will see her school fee fully paid up.

At the launch of the pageant, notable entertainment industry personalities from Zambia and South Africa as well as local model expects and showbiz heads attended the event, setting the tone for what promises to be a pageant to remember.

Zambian award-winning reality television personality Mutale Mwanza endorsed the pageant. She expressed pride and well wishes for the contestants, and emphasised that they should work hard to realise their dreams.

Aphia Nyasha Musavengana who is the pageant’s patron said it was all about empowering young girls in order to reach their goals in life.

“This is a momentous occasion for Zimbabwe. We want to empower the girl child, so everyone who competes will walk away empowered. The girl crowned queen will receive her school fees until she completes university. Education is a must. The finalists will also travel extensively, mingling with celebrities for brand building,” said Musavengana.

Looking ahead, the organisers hope to introduce the pageant to male models and expand modelling activities across the country.
