MISS Universe Zimbabwe, Sakhile Dube, has urged young people to be part of the National Free First Aid Training set for later this month.

Sakhile, who was crowned Miss Universe Zimbabwe in May after beating 17 contestants, confirmed that she will be part of the initiative.

The event, which is a first of its kind in the country, is being organised by Discovery Ambulance Services.

Sakhile posted on her Instagram account that she will be part of the training.

She is in Milan, Italy, where she is studying.

“It is important for youths to take part in the event as it could ignite one’s career in emergency services.

“The National Free First Aid Training Day on July 27 must be embraced by all well-meaning youths.

“The idea is to equip as many people as possible with first aid knowledge and practical skills.

“The idea is to make them first responders in our country to reduce unnecessary loss of life in the event of an emergency.”

Discovery Ambulance Services CEO, David Munowenyu, said the event will be open to everyone and encouraged churches and schools to take part.

“We encourage those who usually meet in large numbers, like churches and schools, to select some of their members to attend this exercise so that in the case of any sort of emergency, there are always trained and certified first responders to attend to the scene.”

Munowenyu said those interested in the National Free First Aid Training Day should should send “hi” on WhatsApp to 0718 682 579.

For the past five years Sakhile has been into modelling and she has always wanted to be the beauty queen of Zimbabwe.
