THE Miss Universe Zimbabwe delegation, comprising the Miss Universe Zimbabwe board team and executive, among others, are expected to leave Harare tomorrow for Thailand to represent the nation at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant.

National director Tendai Hunda, a former model herself, praised the dedication and preparation invested in Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Lyshanda.

She said she was optimistic Lyshanda will make the nation proud and as the organisation they have pledged full support.

“We have worked tirelessly to ensure that Lyshanda is ready to represent Zimbabwe with confidence and grace. From training to wardrobe selection, every detail has been considered. The entire delegation stands firmly behind her,” she said.

Preparations for the pageant have been rigorous.

Lyshanda has undergone intensive media and interview training, fitness programmes, stage presence rehearsals and wardrobe fittings. “Cultural representation has been a key focus, ensuring she can showcase Zimbabwe’s heritage on a global stage,” said Hunda.

The national director said the organisation has also provided professional mentorship to help Lyshanda navigate the pressures of international competition.

“Everything is in order, and we are happy so far with how she has been displaying and presenting herself. It is her first time on an international pageant, but we are not intimidated by that because of the excessive grooming she had, hence we are seeing good results from her as we speak,” said Hunda.

The organisation is now calling on Zimbabweans at home and abroad, as well as the global community, to vote for Lyshanda during the competition.

Voting has become an important component of the Miss Universe pageant, and Hunda urged citizens to actively support their queen. “Every vote matters. We encourage all Zimbabweans and friends of our nation to rally behind Lyshanda.

Your support will help her shine on the world stage,” she said.

Meanwhile, Lyshanda expressed gratitude for the support she has received.

“I feel prepared, confident, and proud to carry Zimbabwe’s flag,” she said shortly before departure. “The support from the delegation, my mentors and the nation has been incredible. I promise to represent our country with dignity, authenticity and excellence.”

However, the journey to this point has been historic.

After a 22-year hiatus, Zimbabwe re-entered the Miss Universe pageant in 2023 under Hunda’s leadership. Brooke Bruk-Jackson represented the country that year, marking Zimbabwe’s return, while Sakhile Dube competed in 2024 and impressively finished in the Top 30. Lyshanda Moyas now carries on this legacy, becoming the third queen since the organisation’s revival.

Hunda reflected on the organisation’s progress over the past three years.

“Reviving Miss Universe Zimbabwe was a labour of love, and each queen since our return has strengthened our credibility. Lyshanda embodies the confidence, talent, and resilience of Zimbabwean women. We are proud to have her lead our delegation.”

The delegation’s departure represents months of preparation, national pride and the culmination of collective effort.

Beyond the glitz and glamour, the trip is a symbol of Zimbabwe’s return to the international pageant stage and the country’s commitment to empowering its young women.

With every vote and show of support from home and abroad, Zimbabweans are standing behind their queen.

Moyas now carries the aspirations, pride, and unity of a nation, ready to leave her mark at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant.
